Hi,
  This weekend I will be launching from a different place. On Saturday, I plan to launch at Chodikee Lake near New Paltz. When I was here last spring, I was truly amazed at the prodigious amount of wildlife to be found here. Many beaver families, muskrats, ducks and birds make this haven their home. There is also a nesting colony of large birds in tall dead trees on the eastern shore. I plan to bring binoculars to observe them. Because beavers are crepuscular animals, (active at dawn and dusk) I plan to be there in the afternoon until after sunset.
  Take the bridge over the Hudson at Poughkeepsie, then north on 9W. Turn left (west) onto Rte. 299 and go 1.3 mi to Chodikee Lk. Rd., where you turn right. Go 1 mi. and turn left at T. Then .09 mi.to boat access rd.
  Or take NYS Thruway to exit 18 and turn right onto Rte. 299 for a few miles to Chodikee LK. Rd. on the left, Then directions as above. Bring your camera!
