This is why I paddle whitewater. Safer. ;-) (I have seen a whale, however: Whale Rock, a very well known, house-sized boulder that sits on the left side of Upper Keeney in the New River Gorge. The eddy behind it is the last place to catch a breath before dropping into the choice bit of mayhem that is Middle Keeney.) ---Rsk
