The Sebago Canoe Club a 501 C3 all volunteer run not- for- profit located in Paerdegat Basin in Brooklyn is in the process of designing and building New York's City FIRST all plastic dock.
Sebago has designed a dock using 80% recycled materials made entirely out of structural plastic. Along with the dock there will be a new 8' wide x 44' long disabled friendly walkway.
THINK of the future. NO pressure treated wood, all foam floats totally enclosed. A dock that can last 20 years or more with absolutely no maintenance.
Sebago is seeking $25,000.00 to go towards a matching grant to help pay for the construction of this dock and ramp facility which will be located in Paerdegat Basin Park, a New York City Public Park.
The cost of building this dock to these specifications is quite expensive.
Sebago offers New York City residents the opportunity to paddle and learn about the Jamaica Bay ecosystem through it's twice weekly paddles which are open to the public.
If anyone knows of an environmental or new material grant or any foundation or agency that might be willing to fund this project; PLEASE get back to me back channel at your earliest convenience.
Thanks,
Phil G
