Also keep in mind that on the same day, I believe even overlapping hours, are two other important water gatherings:

1) Aquatecture at MWA: Designing buildings for the waterfront. A good chance to voice up on access/storage, appropriate land use, CSOs, and moving away from the sad Miami-generic look NYC recently adopted as its own.

2) Governors Island hearing at City Council. Let's advocate for full kayak access and natural restoration!

The LIC Community Boathouse will send reps to all three.

Salty regards,

Erik

Hi Guys,

I think Erik posted a notice already about the Watertrail Kickoff Event on
3/27, but I wanted to include another reminder.

The Parks department sent out a large MS word document introduction, I
have included the text below.

Since it is on our home turf the Red Hook Boaters has volunteered to
supply some kayaks for a photo-opp, to contribute to the festivities. I
think Parks has also reached out to the Village Community Boathouse, and
the Sebago Canoe Club.

It is important that the entire paddling community try to make a show of
support of this initiative. Is anyone else available from 10:00AM to
12:00PM on the 27th?

Come by water, appropriately dressed in a drysuit, or by land. I can bring
a bunch of PFDs, and paddles to hand-out as a visual aid for people who
don't go in the water.

Email me BACKCHANNEL if you want to paddle over, otherwise just come down.
EITHER WAY PLEASE RSVP AS REQUESTED BELOW. A lot of RSVP's will
demonstrate to Parks that we are interested.
