Well, after all the debate the proxigean high was a bit of a bust. Last time there was a proxigean tide (December 08), we had had clear evidence, in the form of a high-water mark, that the Paerdegat basin had busted it's banks at some point when we weren't around to see it -

We were hoping to actually witness that this time. Didn't happen. One of my clubmates had been talking to somebody at the Coast Guard yesterday & they'd mentioned that the high wasn't going to be that notable, no real flooding - the extreme they were worried about was the low that happened in the wee small hours of last night. I'd noticed a low-water advisory in the marine forecast yesterday.
We still had a great paddle this morning. Very cold & I don't recall ever collecting that much ice on deck (the build-up was bad enough that at one point I popped my sprayskirt purely to make sure I still could if I needed to), but it was nice being out there.
