Paddling around picturesque Manhasset Bay in Port Washington, Long Island, on Saturday, July 27 will benefit the Community Chest, an organization that funds 25 non-profit organizations. This annual event, now in its 9th year, will begin at 10:00 am with a bang, literally a blast from a canon, as participants take off in kayaks (or canoes) on Manhasset Bay. Participants can paddle at their own pace, leisurely or full steam ahead, along the Bay’s five mile course to designated locations where they pick up raffle tickets.

At 12:30 p.m., upon hearing the canon fire again, paddlers go ashore and head for Town Dock, where a raffle drawing is held.

To participate in the Manhasset Bay Kayak Run, complete a registration form and submit it along with an entry fee: adults-$25 ($40 if paid on July 27) and under 21 years old -$5 ($25 if paid on July 27).

Registration forms are available on-line at www.PortChest.org.

Sponsors of this event include the Community Chest of Port Washington, The North Shore Kayak Club, Atlantic Outfitters, and the Town of North Hempstead. All proceeds will go to the Community Chest of Port Washington and the 25 non-profit organizations that receive grants, serving the people of Port.
