Dear Friend:

South Street Seaport Museum is alive and well!

I am glad to report that, though the Museum of the City of New York is no
longer involved with the Seaport Museum, we are open and
operating<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?e=001B_RYSuSsjrO9ST2R7aCzqTSutK2Vr3ULutyK6s6VWpZ-fUmvzvfpP6AaTaiWsTa9c3CHI_d4At6hcsUuqf4wYnmj4Qu6jUfElmY2gDHrIbP5877d21TlXtzNYriAaYDV-RLHTUJd-ApSH9Muj2EdyOOl0KWggFfwdG07SebykWHlF63FSH6FMmFTnrBSCDOV_rU6qha-Cgz9yxkY3jNLCQ9SguQoHdIP>
.

As has been widely reported, the City of New York has appointed three
trustees to guide the Museum while a new managing partner is sought. Many
of you know that I have been the Waterfront Director for South Street since
November 2011. During this transitional period, I am proud to serve as
Interim President.

Though our exhibition galleries remain closed because of Hurricane
Sandy-related damage, there is a lot going on here at the Museum. The 1885
schooner Pioneer<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?e=001B_RYSuSsjrM7TCkooFaF39YI69IHBZQ8x_cxcxvryMKXrAezDCV95r6PH0FAnlfKfHlzaVFR3wWZK6tE3TfVuqEAUBzCNdaMi4XHRVIwyJRXfzb1YpVW23Co7tRYSew_gOp7LackoT2w5gFPM7WXewHqMueTvB1Ja_0j10O_fcY=>continues

see the schedule and book your sail. And
*Pioneer*'s award-winning education programs continue through the summer
and into the fall.

And, on Water Street, Bowne

Meanwhile, in Portland, ME, repair work to the 1893 schooner Lettie G.

Here at Pier 16 work continues, preserving

future generations. We are particularly grateful for the City's
continued support of the upcoming restoration project in *Wavertree*.

I thank the Museum of the City of New York for its two years of leadership,
and I look forward to serving the Museum during this time of transition. In
the meantime, I thank you for your participation and support, and I hope to
see you soon at South Street.
